My struggling Reader!

So I've taken full ownership of my struggle (as I am sure many of you have), I wear it like a badge of shame a ugly cape for a very unsuccessful super hero.  I believe it is my fault that my daughter is not reading yet that at 8 she is not a strong reader.  I truly believe that there must have been something I could have done to help her get it better,  I go back and forth with the fact that maybe if she was in school with a real teacher helping her she would be a strong reader by now,,, I read somewhere the other day that "Struggle" shows that something is going on....Me being me I went and looked up the word struggle with new eyes.. Struggle is a verb It implies action It implies effort It implies giving all you've got. A God Guided Home School !

When we started home schooling 19 years ago it was with the perception that it would be "school" (just at home), with a neat little class room, organized to the tee. Over the last few years, we have learned that "school" is not confined to a room (for sure) and a time . Home schooling is a vital, growing aspect of family life. Helping children learn about their-self, their family, the world around them; all are very important but them getting to know God and His awesome plans for them in His world takes the top award. I began home schooling with the idea that I would teach our children, things the public school was no longer offering, things I had been taught at their age. I truly believe that God makes no mistakes, in believing this God continues to teach me that true education is not merely facts, formulas, dates, or field trips. Getting Organized!

Getting Organized! If you are like me I can become overwhelmed fast as I try to get things ready for the new year. It helps if I can take a few moments to do something out side my set up class room such as reading, or prayer this helps me to rediscover my goals and feel more in control of my life and my school schedule. There are times that I feel as if I have homeschool under control but my house is being attached by baby giants and starts to take on a life of its own.  But I have friends who’s homes are always spotless never a plate out of place, but they can’t seem to get on top of lesson plans and school goals and schedules are not a part of their school.  What I have learned over the years is that Homeschool families are all the same: drowning in a sea of clutter!
